"May we invite you for a cup of coffee?" This invitation was very gladly accepted on Wednesday, September 20, during the "Coffee with a Cop" campaign in Höxter. Over the course of the morning, several hundred guests stopped by the historic café mobile in Höxter's pedestrian zone, were served a coffee or other hot drinks and got talking to members of the Höxter district police authority.
The topics of conversation varied greatly: Advice on burglary protection and scam calls, explanations on speed checks and drink-driving and even the question of where e-scooters are allowed to drive.
Police officers and employees from all departments of the district police authority were on site, and Police Director Christian Brenski and the head of the authority, District Administrator Michael Stickeln, also mingled with the crowd at times and were also available to answer questions and talk.
The general mood among guests and hosts was relaxed, and the operators of the vintage café mobile who had traveled from Cologne were also impressed by the ambience of the town of Höxter and the friendly local people.
Thus, the "Coffee with a Cop" campaign, which is offered throughout the state on the initiative of the NRW Ministry of the Interior and made its first stop in Höxter, fully fulfilled its purpose. Police and citizens should simply get into conversation with each other without a specific reason, ensure mutual understanding and provide answers to many an open question.
And anyone who wanted to try out a real police motorcycle or see a patrol car from the inside also had a good opportunity to do so this morning.
